Dear blog.

This is the first time I’m writing again to you in a very, very, very long time.

I’ve been thinking lately.

About how things happen for a reason.

About how sometimes those reasons bring you close to near-desolate emptiness in your constant pursuit for the truth.

About how, in our constant pursuit of happiness, it sometimes damn near destroys us, and changes us from the essence of who we truly are as a person, and just replaces it with a bottomless void.

The other night, I stared down the bottom of that void, and truth be told, I really wanted to fall in and never come out again.

But I stopped myself.

Because I remembered how good it felt to see her smiling at me, how complete it made me feel.

Because I remembered how mesmerising it was to look deep into those big brown eyes of hers, only to stop myself from gazing too long, should I be entranced for all eternity.

Because I remembered I made a promise to myself not to fall into that void again.

Because I promised myself to be stronger, to be better.

Because this is not the end of the story, this is just the intermission.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately.

About how I used to think every girl was special, about how I could almost see an entire future together with them, but then in the end it would never work out. I guess it was like reading a very good storybook, and hoping the climax or ending turns out into a certain way, but instead the story just disappoints you in the end.

If you ever read this, I didn’t think that way about you.

I just stepped back, and let the story unfold.

And what a story its been so far.

I said I was falling for you.

I didn’t lie.

I still am.

And you know what’s funny?

I’m starting to think that you really are the truth I’ve been searching for this entire time, the one that will save me from ever falling into that void again.

I have no idea what’s going through your mind at the moment.

Its been about a month since my last post. So I might as well just get to it. I LAZY WRITE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED IN BANGKOK ON LAST DAY SO PLS ENJOY THE PICTURES

In retrospect, I don’t really miss my hair.

Mum nagged at me while I was snapping away – she couldn’t tell what I was doing, pointing my camera at bars.

Had our last taste of the sweet-savour mini-apoms. I still have no idea what they’re called.

Bangkok day 2

Its been a long time coming, but I finally got my lazy ass off the couch and my hands off the PS3 controller and updated on this post, before I lock away the pics in MA VAULT.

The day started with a pickup from the hotel, and pickups of other tourists from other hotels. It was basically pretty quiet in the van for the 1 and a half hours it took us to reach our first stop: The Floating Market. Seeing as how boring it was with everyone so quiet in the car, I took a few shots on the way.

And here comes a point in time where I get so damn lazy to explain what was happening, so I’m just going to say where the photos were taken. Less reading involved =D On the way to the floating market

To sum up the floating market – cool in a floating market kinda way, water smells like shit and looks worse than it smells, would like going there again, but with someone who speaks Thai. Btw, almost everything in Thailand seems to taste good.

And I sorta forgot where I went after that. But it involved snakes and wood carvings. Even the caplang buffet food there tasted awesome. TOM YUM.

Here’s the part where I put in little bits and pieces of writing in between and amidst all the photos and captions. And its probably where I squeeze in a photo somewhere at the end.

Sometimes I wonder why I put myself in situations like this.

Sometimes I wonder whether or not its worth going through all the stress, the pain and anguish, everything.

I got the band, competitions, college, church, home, assignments, amongst other things to juggle.

All this and I know its only a fraction of the stress my parents must experience. Which leaves me to wonder whether or not I’ll be ready to face the stress they do when I get to their age.

Maybe there’s something waiting for me at the finish line.

Maybe it won’t be prize money, accreditations, presents or event good grades.

Maybe it won’t be something material.

Maybe it might be someone.

I know I’ve made mistakes. I feel like a fool now.

It feels like I’ve lost my team the World Cup.

Maybe its all part and parcel of the learning process.

Maybe I just need to invest more time and effort into it.

Maybe I should stop using the word “maybe”.

Perhaps I just need to wait a little longer.

Remember I said that there might be someone waiting for me at that finish line?Here’s hoping its you.

ITS BANGKOK BEETCHES

Day 1

So its been almost a month since I went to Bangkok, but I’ve been just so damn lazy to update on that. And plus there’s been lots going on so that made me even lazier. BUT HERE IS THE UPDATE.

Lining up to check in

I had none of these in my bag. =D

Since I was a little kid, I always liked to watch the airplane getting ready to accept new passengers. I think I wanted to be a pilot at one point too. Show of hands how many of you have gone to the cockpit before to see the pilots before it became an international hazard to have 5 year olds enter a cockpit.

The flight took about 2 and a half hours and when we got there I was still pretty stoned. The weather and the scenery almost looked the same as Malaysia.

I think it took us about over an hour to reach the hotel because I just dozed off in the back of the van. Oh yea and it feels twice as humid there than it is in M’sia.

A hand-made wooden carving greeted us at the hotel’s lobby, but that was the only thing that greeted us =.= The hotel sucked balls. Seriously. Don’t get me started on the food, as being in Ms Nancy’s food science classes for too long had the words staphylococcus, clostridium perfringens and salmonella ringing in my ears.

But at that time we hadn’t seen the full power of the hotel’s GG-ness. Oh yea, I think it was called Pratunam City Inn. If you ever go to Bangkok and you’re looking for a budget hotel to stay in, DON’T STAY THERE.

I think my family fails on all accounts of holidaying. We took a walk outside the hotel to look around for something to have for lunch. And guess where we went for lunch: Japanese Food.

Fail la, go to Bangkok and eat Japanese food on the first day. But it was nice =D

The manager was pretty awesome, giving us free chicken wings. Which were awesome too =D

To let the food settle we took a walk around and about the city, despite the heat and the fumes from the many vehicles that run through it :/

Oh, and we rode a Tuk-tuk to a mall that was closed =.=

Thank God we took a cab back. Tuk-tuk’s are actually more dangerous than fun…and almost all their cabs are pink in Bangkok.

Got some sorta sweet-savoury snack which had cream, sweetened shaved coconut and spring onions. Was like apom malik. I LOVED IT. But I have no idea what it’s called.

Walked down the road from our hotel and found a quaint little Thai restaurant (or in Thailand, just a restaurant) and had dinner there.

CLEAR TOM YUM SOUP. AWESOME. AWESOME. AWESOME.

Pork with fish never tasted so good.

The stir fried veggies with chicken kinda reminded me of home.

Walked around a bit to let the food settle before going back to the hotel

It truly is.

My mom said something about eating bananas just in case we experienced constipation during the trip…..mana tau she only said that because she herself was constipated =.=

That’s about it for the first day and there’s more to come!

Its been a rough week. A really rough one.

Its been an even rougher month.

Some things haven’t been exactly going according to plan.

Some things seemed to be turning real bad, real fast.

It seemed like a lot of things were going south.

Had a few rough patches with the fam.

Some things went wrong in college.

Work started piling up.

And some people just seemed to disappear.

But hey, once you’ve hit bottom, the only place left to go is up right?

Was pretty nerve-wreck about our thinking skills presentation. Some of the team wasn’t too sure too. But we pulled through didn’t we?

Had our last class of the term with Mr. Gopi. Wish we had more time to learn more from him though. Funny man.

A close friend of mine cheated the reaper. But lost his “ability to move around” as he puts it.

Had to lie down in the middle of the road outside my house to take pictures for an assignment.

Had to lie down on the floor in college too. lol

I WENT SHOPPING

Now I’d really like to wiggle my fingers, but nah. *I’ll save that for when I go shopping for alcohol*

Helped out with some deliveries at mum’s place today, following her around the PJ area. Was getting bored of running up stairs and going up and down elevators, getting people to sign for their packages that we were delivering. It was like I was from Fed-Ex, only I had more epic hair and the most slumber clothing you can imagine. I walked into the office LOOKING GANGSTA. Okay no I didn’t. BUT THE HAIR WAS EPIC. After all was done, mum promised to take me to Pandan Indah to go buy the things I would need for the upcoming Monin Cup.

Starting off with:

THE VIRTUALLY INDESTRUCTIBLE PLASTIC PRACTICE FLAIR BOTTLE.

Okay its not indestructible but it can take a hit.

The metal cup that makes up for half the of the Boston Shaker

Jiggers, Bar Spoon, Muddler, and Boston Glass.

And not forgetting the Hawthorne Strainer =D (I bought a fine strainer too but lazy to take photo bleurgh)

Bought some Disposapourers just in case =D If anyone wants, I’d be glad to sell a couple to you. EH NOT CHEAP OKAY.

And here’s the final part of our Penang trip. If there’s space or time left, you’ll see more from what’s been happening in the month of August, failing which, you won’t see anything la, basically. =D

This place had been our home for the past 3 days and 2 nights. It may not have been the most comfortable places in the world, but as I stepped out the doors and looked back for a second, I realised that I’d miss the place a little, despite the fact that the 9 of us were cramped into a small 2-bedroom apartment.

Left the place and headed over to a mamak for breakfast The waiter kacau la…. After breakfast we headed over to some port….I can never seem to remember the names of most of the places we go to visit…

THAT’S IT.

Forced perception. I rike.

One of the telescopes they placed around the museum to look out to sea. If only I had a lens that big. Then again it would cost as much as a brand new saga. By now you would’ve notice that there were less captions and explanations of what was going on and instead you were presented with photos of food, scenery, my friends, and more food, amongst other random things. There can only be one reason why I have done so.

So that was basically it la, our trip to Penang. Its one trip I won’t soon yet forget. Share a lot of good times there with good friends. Can’t wait for the next trip.

And here’s part 2 of our Penang Trip =D This is your basic scene in the morning during a bad hangover. There’s food and random stuff lying all over the place and everyone’s half-stoned.

I think Penangites purposely made so many different food courts that are open from dawn till dusk to accommodate the locals who can hold their drink and for the many tourists and visitors who can’t.Pai Tee, Popiah, and drinks (non-alcoholic) are the perfect cure for a hangover. Temporarily at least.

Was stoned for the later part of the day. But luckily we had Gwen & Co., who took it upon themselves and organized the entire trip. And as it turned out, we were going to some Peranakan musuem, you know, the one where they’re filming some Baba Nyona drama….I forget :P

And if you’re as stoned as I was then, just enjoy the photos =D

Stoned even more when I saw this – the tour guide was explaining how this camera from back then was capable of taking better quality photos as compared to modern DSLRs. It just took 100x the effort. I stoned even more when I saw a dad walking around the place with a EOS 7D and an L lens.

I hid away my 350D on my side.

Damage caused by some of the earlier visitors long ago. The bastards.

Looking back now, this bracelet sorta reminds me of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice’s ring.

After we done there with the tour, we headed over to Kek Lok Si temple. Our driver was nice enough to drop us off at the very top, as compared to us taking the stairs all the way to the top. You horny old goat.

By the time we finally hit ground floor, we were dead hungry. And guess what. We were in Air Itam. That meant only one thing. Two words.

ASSAM LAKSA BITCHES!

Okay that was 3 words but bah. So sue me. The place was packed but we still managed to find seats and enjoy some of the best Assam Laksa I’ve ever eaten. Normally I don’t like Assam Laksa because I’m not that big a fan of fish. But this one took the cake. If only we had that in the morning. Hangover gone. Kao Tim.

Broskie finished his bowl clean. So did I.

Later, we did what everyone and anyone who came from south of Penang would do. BUY TAU SAR PHEAH.

We were pretty much relaxing and have our own leisure time the rest of the day, what with swimming in the pool (sorry no pics of that) stoning in front of the tv, etc etc. But that night we dressed up a little cos we thought on that last night in Penang, we’d at least go to where the first “The Ship” outlet was opened. And take note, its actually a ship! Not a working if you ask me. And I mean that in every sense.

Yea this is the best picture I have of our experience BEFORE entering the Ship for dinner.

Everything else – was shit.

So like, I’m never going back to The Ship. Ever. Again. It doesn’t matter where the outlet is, I’m never going to another outlet. The food sucked cock, so did the service, basically the whole experience was balls la.

But we made up for that disappointment with a visit to a hotel only minutes away from the apartment we were staying at.

Dinner may have sucked balls, but I think we made the last night pretty memorable, eh guys?

Day 1

The more I think about it, the more I realise how fast time passes by. My term break ended over a month ago and it only feels like it was just yesterday. Thanks to Gwen and Co., most of group 5 had the chance to go to Penang during the last half of our term break. The entire trip was pretty fun and epic at some parts. I’d like to tell you EVERYTHING that happened, but I’ll let the photos do most of the talking =D

The trip was about 4 hours to get from 1U to some mall near Komtar, so we took the opportunity to catch up on some Z’s, because Nick, Dev and me had been awake since 10 in the morning the day before. We watched the world cup final at 1U and we didn’t exactly have a lot of time to sleep when we got back to my place.

It had been a while since I came to the land of char kuay teow and cendol.

Took us a while to reach the apartment we were going to stay in, and my bladder was bursting at the seams during more than one occasion. Didn’t really take photos of the place, it was not THAT nice la. And that’s all I’ll say about it =D (Gwen don’t kill me)

Fort Cornwallis was our first tourist stop, but like, it was closed by the time we got there (which was at about 6?) But that didn’t stop us from just walking around and appreciating Penang.

We hit the famous Penang roadside hawkers (IFORGOTTHENAMEOFTHEPLACEFARK) later that night with empty stomachs. 3 words:

CHINESE FOOD HEAVEN.

At that point it didn’t matter to me that I had sore throat (and with every swallow I took, it felt like a handful of nails were going down my throat) I just whacked everything within reach. The rest of the group too XD I just wish we had more time to try more of the food they had to offer.

Quite a bit of food, a few laughs here and there, but mostly stoning.

I remember a time where I used to blog almost every chance I got – I had more on my mind back then.

I’m not sure whether I have less on my mind now, or so much so that I can’t blog because I can’t possibly post up everything I’m thinking without boring any of you readers out there.

But I’ve just been thinking. Yes in the middle of the night, I’ve been thinking.

I’ve been thinking that its been a while since I’ve just sat in the middle of my room doing nothing but think and listen to music, to ponder of the countless things life has to offer and the various challenges I’d face for sure in the future. I used to delve deep into my thoughts and wonder about the countless outcomes of almost every decision I’ve made, I’m making, and have yet to make.

I used to do all that, then glance at the clock and realise it was 3 in the morning and realise that I had to wake up in another 3 hours to get ready for school. And then I used to fall asleep during History class. I guess I used to think a lot more when I rode the bus back home from school. I could see more of what I was passing by as I looked out the public bus window. I pondered what could possibly going through the minds of the other passengers in the bus. I remember at one point I came to crystal-like realisation that every single person, every single thing that exists in the world, has a story of their life to tell. I know my own. I know part of other peoples’ stories. But then I look at the sheer vastness of the global population.

6,697,254,041 people.

6,697,254,041 different life stories.

But then I just sit back and realise there’s not enough time in a single person’s life to listen to, to comprehend and understand even a miniscule fraction of those stories. So we choose to be ignorant. Ignorance is bliss no?

To some extent that is true.

Remember the saying, “Friends should be like books, few but good.”

I remember going for an essay writing competition some time back and the people I met there had probably read countless books, gone over thousands of different stories, but I wondered how much of what they read stayed with them.

I guess friends and the people we meet are sort of like that. We may meet so many people, may hear different stories from each and every one of them, but only a fraction of what we hear and see, we remember. I think the stories and memories that stay with us are the ones that matter the most, because we chose to, and made it a point to remember. They’ve got to be important right? Maybe.

And then I think about you.

About what your past did to you to shape you into the young woman you are now.

About how the present is still moulding you, shaping you, strengthening you.

About what the future, what wonders it holds for you.

Our lives are pretty much like books, hence the previous saying. We’re constantly writing new chapters into it, with the choices we make, and the things that happen to us, good or bad.

Everyday holds something new for this chapter of my life.

The same goes for everyone, for you too.

In all honesty, I wish I was there with you to write every chapter of your life down, and you with me. I wish and hope I’ll be there with you to write the closing chapters of your life, and you with me.

But I know for a fact that right now, that’s not possible.

I know for a fact that someone else is there to help you write this part of your life down.

And there’s nothing I can do.

That’s some way to start the month.

It was the last day of our first term and most of us were supposed to go out and celebrate, but……………my car died on me. Again. Many thanks to Nicholas and DEVMAIBROSKIES for helping me to push-start the car. In the end I had to drive ol’ 4428 back home. The reason my car batt died was an epic failure. Don’t want to talk about it. I might get burned over and over and over again if Nicholas reads this.

Bumped into Chen, Chin Wern and Junlynn. CHENNN MANY STRESS WHAII LA CHEN WHAI????

Because I had no more class or anything to hand up before the term ended, I spent that beautiful Friday sleeping in and finally finishing up Darksiders.Epic shit. Can’t wait for the next game to come out.

Went out for a bit with Sherwin and Cv to honour our lunchtime tradition but had to cut it short because I was following my mom to Pn. Norsham(My ex-school’s principal)’s house for her daughter’s kenduri.The second my dad parked the car, I saw Pn Ho (my Moral teacher) and a couple other teachers but I was caught of guard, and of all the times to forget a teacher’s name, that was the worst. The conversation went as follows:

“Hi teacher!”, “Hi! What are you doing here?”, “Oh my mom knows Pn. Norsham.” “Oh, okay take care ar, bye!”

I guess the feelings were mutual. Made me feel a little guilty and sad at the same time as to how I forgot Pn Ho’s name, of how Chin Wern, Cal and me used to say “Santa’s coming!” whenever we were goofing off in class and she suddenly returned. Sad too because she forgot my name. But I can’t really blame her. There wasn’t much to take photos of, not even the food, which probably had too much seasoning inside (which most likely contributed to my triple-trip to the throne later that night). And already I was getting bored out of my wits because I knew no one there save for Pn Norsham, my parents, and my younger bro.

Pn Shanthi was actually there too, but I missed out on the opportunity to snap a photo. I saw Pn Chang there too, but she was sticking to the other teachers that were there. It was pretty nostalgic seeing two of my old English teachers there. It was like seeing an old friend again. But the weird thing is, I only remember teachers who have either scolded some sense into me, or have made an impact on me while was in school. Take for instance my English teachers. They were always the best people you could talk to in class, or joke with no matter what, but at the same time they were also some of the fiercest teachers around. I remember English being the ONLY class I never fell asleep in, no matter how tired I was. It was also the ONLY class in which I passed up everything on time. I had to, I was the AJK for the subject. I STILL HAVE MY FIRST ESSAY HOMEWORK FROM FORM 4 WHERE PN ANNE GAVE AWESOME FEEDBACK. SHE SAID I HAVE A FLAIR FOR WRITING AND SHE LOVED MY TRAIL OF THOUGHTS.

I miss school.

I think I’ll pay a visit to Pn Anne and Pn Sharlinie in school soon.

And quite a few gifts, but they were all on lined up on a fancy floormat and I couldn’t get a proper angle without posing weird in front of everyone in the house.

Took one last photo, said our goodbyes, and left. Long before that, Pn Anne and the other teachers had already left.

THE NEXT DAY:

WE TOOK SI THO OUT FOR LUNCH. AND DINNER. AND A MOVIE.

It was fun hanging out with her again, and it was sorta retribution for me seeing as I was unaware of her leaving for Australia to study (I WAS WORKING LA).

Picked up noobie, joee, and her cousin, and met up with chen at sunway giza. Seeing as none of us had a plan, we ended up at some japanese restaurant, Ichiban Boshi. Wallet pain. Oh yea, and on the way there I bumped into Choon Hon on the road (No, not literally) and we had a mini-race. =D With some fortunate stroke of luck, actually it was more of the waiter’s mistake, we strangely ended up paying only for the drinks and joee’s sashimi rice set. They forgot to charge us for the sushi. O.O

Joee and her cous had to split because they had something else on that night. In the end it was only me, Cv, Si Tho and Chen. We made our way to OU, got tickets to a show, and hastily made our way to dinner. Met up with Keamsunn and Jie Lin at Italiannies. Any meal can be fun I guess, when you have it with the right friends =D

Chen’s rissoto came half-an hour late and it sucked balls. Italiannies, you fail.

But like I said, any meal can be made special with the right company. =D

Me, Cv, chen and Si Tho watched She’s Outta My League. Epic funny shit. A word to the wise, watch it with you friends, NOT your family members. We all laughed our assess off.

After all was said and done, Chen had to leave, but Si Tho and Cv stuck with me as I headed to my cousin’s place for a young adult’s cell and to watch the Germany-Argentina match. Curried sausages, tough-to-chew lamb and indian poker was involved during half-time. =D Before it turned 12, we had to leave so we said our goodbyes and I dropped Cv and Si Tho home. And I pretty much stoned the rest of the drive back home. But while stoning I was sort of reflecting on the time I’ve spent with the people I care about. The more I think about it, the more I begin to realise that once I enter the working world, outings and times like these will be far between each other. So I appreciate the time I spend with the ones I care about.

Si Tho’s going back to Aus on thursday. I wonder if we can see her off. Hopefully that can be arranged. =D

WHAT YOU WAITING FO?????

This post is long. Long. LONG overdue. I’m about to attempt something semi-epic. I SHALL RUN THROUGH ALL THE HAPPENINGS FROM THE WEEK BEFORE COLLEGE TILL NOW (The end of term 1). Not THAT much happened. But hey, its been an adventure so far. Whether you’re going to read through this entire post (if you do, you must either be really bored, or really in to this blog) or just scrolling through to see the photos, I hope you enjoy them =D

In April:

I worked. (And drank on the job. Okay we only drank AFTER the job was done.)

I had the time of my pre-college life with some of my best friends.

I conquered my fear. (well, to some extent.)

I became an uncle to a very beautiful Faith Wong. I’M AN UNCLE (again.)

I started college.

I got a shot. (again.)

In May:

I finally got back into a kitchen.

And made some new friends in the process.

I caught up with some old friends :)

I helped dig a hole for a barbecue to celebrate a friend’s birthday

Yes Lydia, that’s you.

I had to dress up for Bollywood.

I made even more friends in the process.

I helped an old friend with a project.

To do so, I reverted to my old ways.

And made more acquaintances (pardon the lingo) along the way =D

In June:

I celebrated my old man’s birthday =D

I attended my first flairtending class. No I didn’t break any bottles. Yes, the bottle is virtually unbreakable.

I cooked some more.

I worked. Again. And on my way to work, I got lost with a friend. Again.

And this time I DID DRINK ON THE JOB. Because we were allowed to.

Oh yea.

I got an idea for a new room wallpaper.

I wonder if holding a lemon, or any fruit for that matter, in your hands in that way, could get you sued.

There’s actually plenty more photos, plenty more stories, but these are just the main highlights la I guess. All in the all, the past 3 months have been sort of an adventure in a sense, what with getting lost in Bukit Jalil when I’m supposed to be in Bukit Damansara for a job, sitting on an actual roller-coaster for the first time in my life, screaming every single pork dish that came to mind while I was on the roller-coaster, getting cut on a daily basis at work, driving to college and back, racing against a friend using an Iswara that’s well over 14 years old, push starting my car with the help of friends, rushing assignments, rushing to print assignments, watching epic movies with epic friends, learning to flair with bottles, driving without shoes, and possibly, le début pour se laisser prendre à quelqu'un. And etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

Like I said, its been an adventure so far,And there’s plenty more where that came from.

So that’s that. =D

Time’s passed me by so quickly. It seems like just yesterday I was sitting at home wondering what I was going for 4 months until college started. It seems like just yesterday I had started my first day of work as waiter, then a cook. It seems like just yesterday I had no idea what I’ve been missing out this entire time. I’m going to try to make the most of whatever time I have.

The timing’s just plain off.

Its been a while since I’ve updated, but I’ll give you readers some food for thought.

I miss the times when we all had school holidays together with the rest of our friends, thus giving us more time to hang out with each other. I used to think as school as sort of a restraint, keeping us from spending time with our friends and loved ones, just plainly because its been hardwired in our system since we were young to do our “best” for exams. I entered college with a mindset that there would be more freedom to some extent, more time to spend with my friends and loved ones. I entered college thinking that I’d be able to talk to and hang out with some friends more and more.

How wrong was I.

I’m finding now, with most of my friends, that things aren’t going the way as I had made it up to be in my head. I find that most of our timings are just plain conflicting with each other. When I have exams, classes and assessments, they’re free to some extent.

When I’m mostly free or have time to hang out, most of them are neck deep in assignments, quizzes, classes, etc etc etc etc etc, and the list goes on and on. That, and the fact that some of them have gone abroad for studies.

Maybe that’s what its supposed to be like.

Maybe that’s the world’s way of segregating us, by making us just too plain busy to be able to spend time with each other despite our differences.

Maybe some things are meant to change, for better or for worse.

Maybe some of things happening now are just a test to friendships and bonds. To see if some friends are truly worth weathering the storm for.

I’ll tell you one thing for sure. With all that’s happening now, with time slipping through my fingers like sand, with all the friends I feel I’m losing.

If this is what growing up really is,

I don’t like it one bit.

Don’t mind me, just felt like posting this up.

To any of my friends out there whom I’ve neglected in any way, I apologise. I miss hanging out with most of you guys! It is now the 10th of June, and its been a while since I’ve updated hasn’t it? STILL NO POSTS ON COLLEGE???? Well here they are =DOrientation was a bitch. Luckily Nelson was there to go through it with me This has got to be, hands down, the most expensive projector in the entire campus. It was a little exciting at first, finally being in college, seeing all these new faces, and especially being in the Lakeside campus. But I guess now the excitement’s pretty much worn off. Probably because I’m already 8 weeks into my course =D.

Halfway through orientation, there was some false fire alarm, and everyone had to empty the Multi-Purpose Hall. So like, there was a whole bunch of people here. I took that opportunity to say hi here and there, but I’ve forgotten most of the people I met during orientation. EXCEPT A SELECT FEW RIGHT OR NOT BROSKIES????

Stuck with Nelson when most of the orientation was over Had some english placement exam and met:Nicholas Nathaniel Raj. Dude I’m sorry if the subject’s a bit too dark. =D

Thee Ban. I don’t know his full name, cos like, now we’re in different groups. Sad face. AND ANISH DEV.

The remainder of the first day of orientation was just plain walking around campus, stoning and taking a few photos here and there. LIKE THIS ONE.Btw, for those of you who don’t know, parking in college sucks balls. If you don’t come early la. Scratch that, coming early to get parking sucks balls too.Oh, and we have our very own cow farm too =D

During the early days of April, lots of things were planned, and lots of things were put into motion.For one, me and Wei Lun had already planned something epic for our bestie, Desmond.

April was also the last month I’d be working with Bad Madrid. I didn’t really take any photos of any sort while I was working there. I guess we were always too busy to just whip out a camera. I’ll come up with photos one day =D

My relatives from Switzerland came to pay us a visitSAY HERROW TO MAI COUSIN EDWARD. He’s only about 2?

Took them out to dinner. Its sorta entertaining, having Eurasian cousins.The sunset was particularly special that evening for some reason.Unc John and TimothyAunty Irene and EdwardCayman Crocodile. LOL Some how, my dad, and all my uncles and aunties, even myself and my brothers have the same face when we laugh. =D

I’ve been thinking a lot lately.

Its been a while since my mind’s been buzzing like is it now. Plenty of thoughts fill my mind. I wonder why my mind’s stayed dormant for so long. I miss reaching into the depths of my thoughts looking for answers I knew I’d never find. But somewhere along the way I’d find answers I never knew I needed.

I’m still thinking a lot, at this very moment. Its 5 minutes past 8 at night and I’m still in college, waiting on a friend to send me home. I’m thinking about how pretty college looks at night, about how the library emits a comforting glow in the evening, and a refuge from the blazing weather in the afternoon. I’m thinking about how some students are able to spend hours on end just going through stacks of books. I’m thinking about how this library makes you feel so damn productive yet so damn lazy, all at the same time. I’m thinking about how expensive it is to eat wantan mee in college. I’m thinking about how weird looking some of the chairs and furniture are.

I’m thinking about how this college is so big, with thousands of students, yet I know only a small fraction, and even smaller figure personally. I’m thinking about the friends I’ve known and met over the years, prior to coming to college, and how they’re doing. I’m thinking about my dog at home who’s waiting for me, wondering why his master is still not back yet. I’m thinking about how I’m going to college tomorrow. I’m thinking about the unfinished assignments I have, and about how computer illiterate I am when it comes to using Microsoft Publisher.

I’m thinking about going to the loo, and also about how lazy I am to pack up my laptop and walk all the way to the nearest one, only to come back and set up my laptop again. Its 12 past 8 now, and I’m thinking about how long my friend’s taking to in her group discussion. I’m thinking about how I could use this time I’m spending right now to write lyrics for my band instead of blogging. I’m thinking about the librarians who work and at what time they have to go home.

All this and more in less than 10 minutes.

Makes you wonder and think even more about what I’m thinking about during the other 18 hours and 50 minutes when I’m awake.

But I find that amidst all this random thinking, amidst all the struggles that I find myself facing despite the fact that I’m still adjusting myself to college, despite the fact that my mind’s wandering off again because I’m alone in the library, that I’m thinking about you. I don’t really know you, but I’m thinking about you nonetheless. There really is something about you that’s drawing me toward you, something I can’t explain.

I wish I had more answers.

We met up with the rest of the gang, and had dinner at Friday’s. It was nice, seeing them all again We sorta went our separate ways after dinner, some had to go back, others, for a movie.

So me, chen, joee and tucky went to watch How To Train Your Dragon.One of the better Dreamworks’ movies I’ve seen.

Dinner at Lakeside

Went for my friend Melvin’s examination for his Diploma in Hospitality at Taylors Lakeside. A 3-course meal and a chance to visit my future campus. Why not?

So I called along Brian, Darren, Kent and the whole lot of them to go because I couldn’t drive. And plus, they’re great company for anythingOn and that’s Jeffrey and Dara by the way That’s the library. Well the floors with lights on la.I have no idea what’s there, but I intend to find out next week =D

Bumped into my manager from Bar Madrid, Ben at Taylors helping out a student with flaretending.

We were still waiting for the Hospitality students to finish their briefing and for Ken, Darren and Jackqie to arrive too And when they finally did, we were pretty hungry.Truffles has a lot of Ikea decor for some apparent reason. Bread came first. I think this was the best thing we had there. You’ll see why later.

Okay la tell you what, I’m going to be stingy on the words and generous with photos. Lazy to type for the moment. Thanks again Melvin, for the invite

Our “wine”. It was tap water. And I accidentally drank it. Sea bass. Which tasted…um. No comment.

We waited a little while more and dessert came Our server for the night. I forgot her name :X So that was it for that day, despite being the youngest in the group, I had fun, as I always do with Brian and his friends.

SPM RESULTS

It was good seeing everyone again, after working for so long. Well, almost everyone. A lot of my good friends have left for greener pastures. And left me and the rest of us here. LOL

It was good seeing faces again like:U-Whye. Okay technically speaking you can’t really see his face here, but it was good seeing that bugger again. WHEN ARE WE SHARING KEROPOK LEKOR AGAINKEAMSUNN. I’ve known him since I first came to SKDU in Std 5. THANKS FOR DRIVING US TO MOSINCV. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOBIE. You can tell how nervous we all were by just looking at Cv’s face.

A lot of us went to Mosin. A LOT.Mei Yin was so psycho-ed out she struck a pose. V:DVYee Hua too. LOL I couldn’t have been there without my best friend Wei Lun. HOMG WEI LUN SPM RESULTSI was actually fine, despite the look on my face. Until it was time to head to school.Have to pay money to take their photos. No, seriously. FAKAISSSSSSSFAKAIALSO FAKAIRockstar bestie la. DUDE BRING BACK YOUR MOHAWK YOU CAN’T DO EMOAwaiting the green light to get our results.The teacher who helped me get better than a pass for BM. So here’s how it went. Norsham was busy talking to us about who got the highest marks in the school, telling us about how the percentage of those who passed BM went up. But the look on everyone’s face said they couldn’t give a rat’s hairy ass. But the second she told us to go to our respective class teacher’s table to collect our results, everyone made a mad dash for the teachers’ tables like chinese uncles running for free coffee at Ikea in the morning.

RESULTS HOMG

Funny, story, I was with Cv and we both couldn’t receive our results because the both of us hadn’t returned our SPBT books yet. WTF. LUCKILY, I came prepared with all my books. About 6-7 kilos.

So we ran all around the school looking for the teacher to return the SPBT books to. When we finally found her, Cv had to pay for the books he lost. Poor guy. NOOBIE WHAI SO NOOB 1. I SORTA MISS KANTIN FOOD, BUT I MISS AUNTIE MORE

After receiving the note of approval, we ran like mad for the hall, and got our results. Congrats once again to Cv, for getting 6A’s. NOOBIEEEEE WHAIIIIII. I got 3A’s, the rest all B’s. Not completely satisfied, I could’ve done better, but at the end of the day, I’m not going to let a piece of paper bring me down.

After receiving our results, the whole lot of us, Wei Lun, Me, Joee, Cv, Keamsunn, Jie Lin and Sherwin went to OU to celebrate. Desmond joined us later.Went to Tokyo G for lunch and watched The Green Zone with the whole lot of them, plus Steven and Jia Juen.

The movie actually made me feel sleepy. Joee also felt sleepy. Heck it was boring la for 3/4s of the movie. Good friends they are. All of them =D

Then we HAD to stop by gelato fruity cos JOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE had a sorbet craving.Cv looks like he works there. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOBIE WHEN WE HANGING OUT AGAIN

And there’s Jia Juen. LOL

So much to say, so little time.

I know for a fact that there’s plenty to update on, so I want to get a few things outta the way first. In a few days, its already going to be mid-April O.O

Time really does fly by fast.

During early March, got invited by Kent and Jackqie to go for their housewarming party along with Brian It was going to be a BBQ, but looking at the weather that day, our plans were threatened ==See the dismay on Jackqie’s face? This really helped during that hot day. The drink I mean.The whole time I was there, I actually forgot to take an actual picture of the house :P Possible new header for the blog? Yes? No?They have quite a big kitchen =D

They day went on pretty slowly actually – just sitting around Kent’s house stoning. Waiting. And waiting. Until they said I was time to start the fire for the BBQ. =D

Tell me you don’t like starting charcoal fires.

Things were going okay la until it started to pour.

It wasn’t that bad actually, just had to shield the fire with an umbrella. There actually was an epic fail moment – we used a plastic chair as a sort of table for the fire. You can guess how that went.

The chair melted.

And we threw it next door, where no one was living.

But I didn’t take photos of that.

By the time the fire really got hot, it was about 8-ish and everyone was getting hungry, so we got to cooking =D Jackqie and Darren =D Thanks Kent for having me over =D

The night went on pretty well, fun people, my brother’s friends =D

Until we heard a car crash right outside of Kent’s place.Candice’s car was the victim. It was just parked on the side. But some asshole decided he couldn’t wait for the other car to move a little faster, so he cut through and whaddya know. ==

So to cheer everyone up, Denise brought out her Chocolate Cheesecake. One word. Four alphabets.

Damn.

It was bloody good.

These past two months have been all about saving up to buy stuff that me and my bro have always dreamed of having. Okay maybe not dreamed la, but we’ve been planning to get a Guitar Hero set ever since we first saw the damn thing. Chinese New Year passed by and after some proper planning and bargaining:Say hello to the Twins,and Drumkit.

Ruffles was a little interested at first, seeing a few pieces of metal and plastic taller than him being put up. But after a while he just plain lost interest and started doing this:

We got two games:Awesome man. But the coming of Brian’s and my Guitar Hero set was potong-ed a bit by the fact that it also came along with a microphone, and my mom and family friend wanted to sing along to Don Maclean’s American Pie. Worst 7 minutes of my life.

Here’s a few more shots of Drumkit and the Twins: Sadly, I’ve been busy getting a lot of stuff sorted out like work, starting college, and other stuff, which sorta left me with little time to play at all == I haven’t even finished Assassin’s Creed 2 yet. WHAIIIIIIIIIIIII

Anyway, after much looking around, research, planning, saving up, and I must add, plenty of grumbling from mom:I FINALLY GOT IT. No regrets getting this lens. Finally have a portrait lens =D Next objective, by probably next CNY, ZOOM LENS X)

This lens and the 25-80mm should be adequate this coming Saturday when I go to take photos at Earth Hour 2010: Battle of The Bands at Sunway Pyramid.

Call me an opportunist la, but just thought I’d help out a friend by advertising a little on this blogThey’re going to have bands like One Red Paperclip, WENEEDANAME, Wanted Symphony, and Once Upon A Time There Was A Sausage Named Bob. Last name a bit random, but according to Cher Haow, all of them sounded pretty awesome, so I’m hoping and guessing this Saturday’s pretty awesome.

There’s also going to be guest performances by indie bands like An Honest Mistake. Well technically speaking, everyone performing is from an indie band, or is just plain indie la. But go for it la people, this is a great way to start appreciating our local bandscene. And no, their music won’t be available on the internet any time soon. That’s not the way it works for our local music. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that. Anyway, turn of all your lights at home before you come out and join hundreds of others to make a stand against global warming and rock the night away after!

CNY PART 2. FINALLY =D

I know its been a while, there’s so much to update on, in fact there’s too much to update on, but I’ve been busy what with work and all. Anyway thought I’d just finish up with the happenings during CNY:

My cousins, who have kids a few years younger than Basil *who’s turning 12 this coming monday =D* came over with their families for a short while. A little lazy to layan, honestly speaking, because its just plain awkward when your cousins remember your name, but you don’t remember their names at all, much less their kids. HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!Really wish I had a 50mm lens on me. For some reason the lighting in my house just plain sucks la :\

Went over to Aunty Carol’s at night, like we usually do during CNY and there was quite a spread:Checkit :)

The food was pretty okay I guess, was still recovering from how awesome the chapati was in the afternoon at Aunty Wai Kin’s house. About the chicken in this picture, no good == like you were chewing on leather. Didn’t really bother to take as many pictures of the food. I’m contemplating whether this should be a part-time food review blog. If I actually had the time and money to go around reviewing restaurants, that is.

Once again, no yee sang, no CNY la. Simple.

I think its actually been a while since I actually took part in the tossing. heh.

There was seriously plenty of other food to take photos of but I just didn’t bother as much that time around. :\

BUT CHECK OUT THE DESSERTS: And that’s not even half of it.

Spent the rest of the night playing blackjack with Darren, Nick, Brian, Ah Ma *grandma*, and some of Darren’s friends. Don’t ask why my grannie was there. =D That’s about it for the first day of CNY. FINALLY. Nothing much happened in after the first day of CNY. UNTIL AMELIA AND SERENE CAME DOWN FOR A VISIT.

I had not seen them in ages, as a matter of fact, the last time I saw them, I was in Bentong for a daytrip and I called them up. Good times *sighs* the first time I rode a motorbike with a chinpit.

I took a lot of effort and convincing Serene’s mom and all, but when they finally made it here it felt so nostalgic seeing them again. They came over to my place and we stoned for a little while until we plain decided to go out because it was just getting too boring and hot at home. So the first, and disappointingly, the only place we hit, was 1U. They wanted to go to place where we could just sit down and chill and have a drink, as opposed to walking all over the mall.Yep. That’s where we went. And as the name implies, we took out time *tm.Kopi Kao and Hazelnut Ice Blended coffee – Mine and Serene’s. I’d show you Amelia’s drink, but she finished it in about a minute or so.Fo shiznits. For some apparent reason, this time round seeing Serene, she looked and sounded a lot like….an aunty la….

Oh wait, here’s Amelia’s drink – or at least what was left of it after 45 seconds to a minute.

It really was fun talking to them again. So we basically just stayed for about 2 hours talking, talking, talking, talking, and occasionally sipping on our coffee, then talk somemore

Fast forward 2 hours and we’re getting hungry. Shayne was meeting up with us at Tokyo-G and we just thought we’d get a bite there laTypical Shayne la. =D

It had been a while since I saw most of my old colleagues there so took the opportunity to do a little catching up and took a few pics while I was at itUci, which is actually short for um. Okay la, to put it short he has a really long name. Cool supervisor.Chee How. No long name. Funny guy. Cool Supervisor too.Jonathan. All-round fun guy, great friend to work with. Didn’t know he was in DU till I got to know him more ==It took us about 5 minutes to decide what we were going to eat. And you’re looking at the end results of our decision. Yes that bowl of Gyu Don was for the for of us to share. Its. Not. That. Big. And it definitely wasn’t enough for me and Shayne. But we still ate :(

Shayne had to run off for a bit so we hung around a little while longer before the 3 of us had to head back, for a little gathering at home.lol Chee How’s camera shy.At least I thought so la. He looks a little like Nobita doesn’t he?Yea, the guy on the left was pretty random. Don’t ask me, I don’t really know him. =D

Fast forward a little more, we’re waiting for the bus, Shayne still hasn’t shown up, and it looks like its going to rain, and we don’t have an umbrella. So what do we do? We stone and take photos. Oh yeah.

The bus finally arrives and we stone the whole half-hour ride home. We took the right bus, just headed in a different route.

And guess what was waiting for us when we go home:MORE YEE SANG. At that point, I was getting sick of the stuff la. But I always love taking photos of people tossing the yee sang. For some reason I never get bored of it.A few of my cell members came over too Yoong siblings: Keith(top), Sue Ann & Sue Zann(above). Yea Judith in the middle doesn’t count as a cell member. At least not yetBrandon Lau Brandon Lau, the only guy in church who shares the same name as me. Well not exactly la but you get the idea.

Everyone was having a relatively good time, enjoying the food and company, but Shayne still hadn’t arrived yet. == I think Ruffles enjoyed the company the most.

When Shayne finally arrived we had a little more fun than we did at the beginning, even staying over past midnight.Good friends they are.

Had fun the whole day la basically. It was sort of a mini-reunion, because its not everyday all *or at least some* of us gather around to just have a meal and a good time. It was a shame Shayne had to leave when he did, because me, Lau, Serene and Amelia stayed up, went to the local mamak, and um….drank a little. LOL. A word of advice, you never, ever, ever, want to see Serene drunk. Not a pretty sight.

Well its finally done! You’d think there’d be more visitations during CNY, but nah. That’s most of what happened. More updates soon la people. BACK TO WORKK!

Chinese New Year. FINALLY

First and foremost, to those of you whom I didn’t say this to you *even though its so damn late* HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!!!

Now that that’s outta the way, let’s get on to the eve of Chinese New Year. We had a reunion dinner of sorts la at home, with some family friends because most of my dad’s side of the family is scattered around the world. Moving on, a reunion dinner, with or without the whole family, wouldn’t be complete without Yee Sang would it? Mom made pork ribs. awesome. Don’t know what it was, but I didn’t take any. =D Roast duck. Even more awesome than pork ribs. Your basic chinese veggies And prawns.RUFFLES!!!!

Dinner was so-so la. Missed having talking to some of my aunties and my uncle.

Now, on to the first day of Chinese New Year: The first day always, and I mean ALWAYS begins with the serving of tea to our parents. This year was a little different though, what with Ah Ma *Grandma la for those of you who have no idea who I’m talking about* staying over for the first day.Ask most kids nowadays what Chinese New Year means to them, and you’ll probably get the same answer from most of them. =D After we were done with serving tea to our elders, we headed out to my mom’s first brother’s houseThe house was pretty crowded considering the fact that most of my mom’s siblings’ families were there. I have so many cousins who are older than me, up to the point I sometimes can’t tell whether they’re my aunties and uncles or not. But nevertheless, there is one thing me and my brothers always look forward to:KFC!!!!!!

In case you’re wondering, my cousin’s a manager at one of their outlets, so every year during Chinese New Year, for as long as I can remember, there would always be KFC there for us. Such a happy thought no? Priscilla, my cousin, popped in for a bit along with Jessie, my cousin-in-lawOh and that’s my aunty Susan there on the left. I wonder if my mom liked to eat KFC when she was pregnant with me…. Jessie was pretty hungry so you can imagine la…plus she’s eating for two. =D I’M GOING TO BE AN UNCLE! Well technically I already am to a few la but I’M GOING TO BE AN UNCLE!!!!The house was pretty cramped, considering the amount of people pouring into it, but most of us didn’t mind la, I mean, we only see each other once or twice a year. Aunty Susan told me to take a family photo for her == First one was a fail. Better =D I honestly tried my best to remember most of my relatives’ names, but there’s just so many of them, and plus they live so far off that we hardly see each other. It kinda sucks though, I do have a some interesting family members.Dad was deep in conversation with Joel about who knows what Couldn’t really connect much with most of our relatives inside the house, so we resorted to just chilling outside the house instead. As you can see, one of my uncles in the background getting fresh air along with a few other uncles, were basically doing the same thing as us la. I really wish I didn’t cut my hair during CNY. After spending about an hour and a half there, we headed over to my late grannie’s brother’s house. Even though I don’t really remember where the house is, I’ll always remember it for its sorta unforgettable mini-zoo. The place hasn’t changed much over the years….but there have been a few new additions to the mini-zoo la…like for instance a few new birds *truth be told I’ve forgotten what animals used to be there, apparently a long time ago they kept a tiger cub there o.o*

Dam borh songg the birds, cos they kept moving around pretty fast, preventing me from getting a good shot. So I took pics of the decor on their cages instead Oooh, and they had an aquarium full of goldfish inside:It wasn’t until Yihling C. told me about this photo that I realised there was something weird about. Just have a closer look la. =D That’s my granduncle right there. Judging from the look on his face, I think he’s just as confused about who’s who in the family as much as I am.KUIH KAPIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!

After granduncle’s house, we headed over to an old family friend’s house, Aunty Wai Kin. We’ve basically been going there every CNY and we always look forward to seeing her two large Golden Retrievers.Yea, the place is pretty big as you can see, so since it was CNY anyway, I’m guessing they used the garden as a car park KUM!!!! I have plenty at home that are going to rot if no one bothers to eat them…so if there are any takes, you know who to call =D

Instead of your typical Chinese food which would be noodles, fried rice, spring rolls and veggies and stuff, they had something different this time round: Oh. Yeah.

This has got to be some of the best chapati I’ve eaten hands down. This guy’s stall is somewhere near SK Sri Damai should any of you know where that is, behind the school somewhere in all those shoplots.They also had some awesome briyaniAwesome dhal curry,Awesome chicken curry, AND AWESOME CHICKEN RENDANG. Dammit, everything was awesome la.Check out the chutney they were serving with the chapati But of course, you can’t have all this Indian food, especially during that season, without: Need I say more?

Lunch was just plain awesome la. After eating, me, Brian and Basil walked around for a bit looking for aunty Wai Kin’s dogs. Sadly, we were told one of them had to be put down recently because of various illnesses and old age. Damn sad la, every CNY I used to see the both of them. So the only dog left was Caesar There’s just something so comforting about big dogs, no?

One of aunty Wai Kin’s granddaughters offered me some jellybeans, and something made me take this shot What does this remind you of? Chen, you already know laMaybe its because we missed church that day, I dunno, but it was BLAZING HOT for some apparent reason.

Despite the heat, mom still insisted on a family/group photo. No tripod. NEVERMIND TAKE ONLY. lollol oldest bro damn stone ==It took some effort, getting everyone into the frame, but I guess it turned out okayExcept for the way Basil looks la.One nice Italian uncle helped me take the photo. Yea I forgot the kid’s name but he was heavy. =P

Last day at work.

Its been about two weeks since I last stopped working at Tokyo G, and I’ve been putting it off for quite some time, updating about it. But here it is =D

Brought my camera to work, to take a few more pics than I did the last time. Kitchen staff said they had something prepared for me when my shift ended. I had no idea what it was, but heck, I really didn’t want to know. Not really going to miss the wormhole wall in the restaurant. It makes me sleepy la.

The day went on as usual, only difference was me taking more photos than I usually did.

It was about 1 plus when I arrived at work, and kitchen staff like Eric were already busy with their preparations as usual The day seemed pretty normal and dull, customers come, customers eat, customers leave.

BUT THEN CALVIN AND CHIN WERN PAID ME A SURPRISE VISIT Shit, outta focus. Miss the bugger la. Going back to ns and all. Take a wild guess why he’s wearing that beanie.XD Can’t wait for him to get back la, so can hang out.

Then they left, it got dull again….until my split-shift break along with Wei Lun, Ken, and Jonathan. Since it was my last day, I brought something special with me for lunch – Mash Potatoes with Gravy and Roast Chicken. It was supposed to be an awesome lunch. Until I opened the tupperware. I forgot that milk turns sour if left outta the fridge for a long time. And that my mom used milk when she makes mash potatoes. Do the math la people. I salvaged the chicken *hey food’s still food la* and the kitchen staff were nice enough to gimme a big bowl of rice. Along with some fking spicy java type stir fried chicken with who knows how much chilli padi inside.

While I was still on break, went with most of the tokyo cinas to GSC to have a look at the showtimes for Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Not a bad movie by the way. A little too predictable at some points though. More on that later.

When we came back, Sherwin was already waiting for me at my restaurant. So with the mere 20 minutes I had left on break, we paid a visit to Eric and Cher Haow at Mac CityIf you really can’t see him, let me know, and I’ll arrange a bleaching for him =D He left after walking back with me to my restaurant, and I went about the rest of my day. Before dinner time, we went out on our last illegal flyer run around OU Don’t ask. LOL

We walked around more, harassing people rather than giving out flyers and taking weird photos with signboards. Your usual stuff la. We continued on walking nearby Oriental Cravings and there was this traditional Chinese music performance lol after they were done with their first set, it was time to go. But just for the fun of it we gave them a few 5 ringgit vouchers to use IF they ever came by our restaurant

The day went on as usual. Nothing significant really happened. UNTIL:THEY PAID A VISIT. And had a meal. Thanks guys for coming on my last day =D Keamsunn, Jielin, Cv, Beelian and another friend *IFORGOTYOURNAMEIMSORRY* came for dinner and chatted for a while. Nice seeing them after so long. CV WHEN YOU FREE YOU MCB.By the time they were leaving my shift was already over, so I thought what the heck la, take a few pics to commemorate their visit la. Jonathan fail by the way.Awesome friends they are.

Haiz they had to split before we could hang out any longer. Just then, some of the kitchen staff called me into the kitchen. I didn’t know what to expect, but just in case, I removed my phone and wallet. And it stepped in.

They asked me to look for something in their closet. Being blur at that time, I thought they were going to pour water down on me.

How wrong I was.

The first thing I remember was an egg being cracked on my head. Next thing you know, flour’s being thrown on me, tobiko rubbed into my hair, more eggs cracked in my shirt, pants, everywhere la. Oh and there was green tea poured down my pants too. Anti-oxidant-y :PYou get the idea.

They hosed me down after at the back of the restaurant. You don’t want to see THOSE photos. By the time they’re done, well you can guess la. I didn’t have any spare clothes except a t-shirt in my bag. They gave me a small towel *you know those white ones used to wipe table? except they’re clean la* and a pair of pants 1 size too small for me. All this and I had to go watch a movie after == Lol you kitchen camwhores….

The kitchen staff are damn nice folks la once you get to know them well. They sorta gave me my last supper there. They also gave me a whole big plastic dish full off tempura prawns, fried chicken, and soft shell crab. OF COURSE I SHARED IT ALL WITH MY WORKMATES LA. just in case you were wondering.

Before you knew it, it was closing time, and they were nice enough to gather outside for one last photo before I left I sorta miss working there, cos everyone was sorta like family. Well, some more than others, but you get my point. Thanks again for the experience!

Come join us in Sunway Pyramid on the 27th of March in conjunction with Earth Hour 2010. From 6.00PM onwards, bands will be battling it out on stage. We have a few special performances prepared for all of you too.

I remember hearing from somewhere that au revoir, means till we meet again, and not goodbye. I guess that’s pretty much the case with my leaving Tokyo-G.

Well, I never really blogged about working there, so I kinda prepped for this in a way.Being greeted by this sign every time I came to work bothered me a little. The G in our restaurant’s name was emphasized more than McDonald’s emphasizes their golden arches.

At least they have been around much longer, and have a worldwide franchise to back it. I mean, I’m just saying.

Nonetheless, working there opened up my perception of working in a restaurant a little bit more, from setting tables and attending to customers, to closing shop at the latest, 11.30 at night.

So let’s start with photos.For starters, my favourite people to work with. Azzim, my supervisor who’s been teaching us most of what we know since our 3rd day at work, taking the bus home with us, dammit I even went with him to donate blood! Kinda going to miss him once I leave Tokyo G. And Wei Lun, one of my best friends since Form 1, who came together with me to get the job in the first place. For all general purposes, Ken, whom was a bit too…for lack of better term, “friendly” on the day I met him. We’ve become pretty good friends ever since me and Wei Lun started work there. Learned quite a bit from him too. Okay, now I’ve forgotten this cook’s name, but he has got to be one of the coolest amongst the kitchen staff. He recently taught me how to make Rock N Roll, one of our beef dishes, which is basically slices of beef with cheese and/or mushrooms inside. Along with a few knife tricks la. Kitchen staff are definitely not camera shy, that much I can tell you. See what I mean?

I’d put up more pictures, but I guess I’ll just bring my camera to work tomorrow. Cos the last time I brought my camera, I didn’t take enough pictures. The day I did bring my camera though, they were slicing raw tuna meat, for sashimi.

And while they were at it, they made some rolls too. I’ve forgotten how a big a tuna fish really is. They were also cutting up the much smaller salmon fish that day too. I’ll take more pictures of the food tomorrow.

On busy nights, this is either where magic or nightmares become real. No shit.

So a few weeks back, Ben Ng of Fluid Alchemy gave me a call that got me thinking, which ultimately cultivated my decision to leave Tokyo-G.

He was offering me a job in the kitchen for this bar at Jaya One that he was in the middle of revamping, and I was definitely interested, what with me going for a Culinary Arts course, I want to soak up as much as I can before I actually start studying. So I went there a couple weeks back to have a look at the place and talk to Ben. The sign says it all la. And for those of you who don’t know what tapas are, they’re basically appetizers for bigger meals, but in this case, its more social food. Simple, good Spanish tapas served with great drinks should be a killer combo. Never worked in a bar’s kitchen before, so this should be interesting and eye-opening.Check out the decor. I snapped a few pics whilst Ben was talking to his staff. Oh yes I did.

On that day, after meeting up with Ben, I headed on to Ikea for a blood drive that Sherwin asked me to go for. And since Jaya One was only like 5-10 minutes away from my parent’s office, I made my way there first to have lunch, then walk towards SS2 to take the bus to Ikea.

On the way to my parent’s office, saw some nice flowers being grown on the outside of some of the flats there in section 17.I really have to find more things to take photos of.

I’ll have to update soon on Shayne’s New Year’s party, and some other stuff.

Valentine’s is coming up. So is Chinese New Year. Weird that they’re both falling on the same day. Heh, some impromptu plans just might come into play.
